The " Pays de Serres " is a limestone plateau situated between the Rivers Lot and Garonne. It is a fascinating landscape of deep wooded valleys, escarpments and flat limestone plains.

Leave Agen in the Toulouse direction on the RN113. At Lafox, take a left fork on the D16 to Puymirol (16,5 km). This is the oldest Bastide in the Lot-et-Garonne and offers a panoramic view over the surrounding area. Covered walkway.

Continue on the D16 to St Maurin (10 km). The history of the village is closely linked to a religious foundation dating from the 6th century. The listed ruins of the large Clunisian Abbey in the centre of the village date from the 11th century.

Continue via the D16 and the D30 towards Bourg-de-Visa. 1 km before Bourg-de-Visa, go left on the D43 to Beauville (14 km). The medieval village is sited on a rocky outcrop and was the seat of one of the most powerful barons of the Agen regions up until the 16th century. Ancient covered walkways.

Continue on the D215 towards La Sauvetat de Savères. After 7 km, turn right to take a look at the church of St. Eulalie de Cauzac (9 km). This 11th century church occupies a beautiful site in a green valley next to St. Eulalie lake and is worth a detour. 

Return to the D215 and at the crossroads go straight on to Dondas (2 km). A charming village which won the departmental " Village in Flower " competition. Children's play area.

Go back to the D215 and turn right to Cauzac. Turn left onto the D122 and then at the D656 go straight on to Frespech (10 km). Perched on a ridge, this tiny village has retained its attractive fortifications.

Return to the D656. Turn right towards les Tricheries. Turn right on the D10 to Laroque Timbaut (8 km). This village was marked by the passage of Roland, Paladin of Charlemeagne, in 778. Legend has it that the spring of St. Germain cured his troops who had been decimated by an epidemic.

Continue on the D103 to Hautefage la Tour (6 km). This curious village has a high hexagonal Renaissance Tower in its centre. It was the first stage in the building of a palace for the Bishops of Agen, the La Roveres, but the palace was never completed. 

Leaving the village, turn left towards St Antoine de Ficalba. Cross the village to reach the RN21. Turn left and then after 200 metres right to the Fontirou Caves (9 km). Beautiful limestone concretions. Various attractions (mini-golf, mini-karting, picnic area,…).

Go back to the RN21 and return to Agen (18 km).
